Belkina, Dóka, Wakultschik: Portraits and storytelling
Although all three of the series presented at the exhibition consist of portraits, they could not be more different from each other considering their subjects and the environment surrounding those as well as their ways of storytelling. In his series entitled Putin Fan Club, Béla Dóka has taken personal shots of Putin fanatics. Katerina Belkina is reflecting on the relationship between big cities and the individual through self-portraits in her series Empty Spaces. Maxim Waltschik uses idealized female faces as a tool for formal experiments in order to create optical portraits.
