Kiscelli Museum / Municipal Picture Gallery Budapest

Museum

The building of Kiscelli Museum hosts two separately functioning member institutions, the Fővárosi Képtár and the Kiscelli Museum. While the Fővárosi Képtár showcases fine art mainly from the 20th century, works of contemporary artists in Budapest, the Kiscelli Museum, the Department of Modern City History exhibits historical objects and written documents about the history of Budapest after the 18th century, presenting the city’s architectural-, political, social history to Hungarian and foreign visitors, giving them a comprehensive overlook about its past and present.
